Choral & Symphony at Jemison Concert Hall

Item details

Date

February 1, 2025 7:00PM

Location

Jemison Concert Hall

Description

The Orchestra is joined by fabulous guest soloist Alissa Anderson as the ASO Chorus appears in concert for the first time in 2025. Alissa has been hailed as “deliciously over the top” for her commanding stage presence, and Opera News describes the voice as a “powerful mezzo.” Anderson wields her comic prowess, striking features, and her “powerful vocalism” to great acclaim.

The orchestra will perform works by Schubert, Debussy, and Borodin. Mozart Symphony No. 41 “Jupiter” rounds out the bill as not only his longest, but also and last symphony he wrote. It is regarded as perhaps the greatest addition to the genre from the middle-Classical period. The nickname “Jupiter” (Symphony) is attributed to impresario Johann Peter Salomon.
