Description
Free and open to all! The Alabama Symphony Orchestra conducted by Maestro Carlos Izcaray joins forces with The Aeolians of Oakwood University under the direction of Jeremy Jordan. The students that comprise The Oakwood University Aeolians come from all disciplines and connect through the power of music, offering an unforgettable musical experience. The choir has traveled widely since its inception in 1946, and we are honored to have them alongside the ASO. In a poignant closing concert of the 2025 Momentum Symposium, the ASO and Aeolians partner beautifully in celebrating Black History with Birmingham native, Brian Nabors, original composition “Concerto for Hammond Organ, Orchestra, and Chorus”.
This free concert is the culminating event for ASO’s Momentum Symposium, an immersive and collaborative event designed to empower and inspire the next generation of music professionals. This annual conference encourages aspiring performers, music educators, production professionals, and industry enthusiasts to elevate your passion and knowledge in the world of instrumental music.
Thank you to this year’s Momentum sponsors for making this event possible: Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham, National Endowment for the Arts, Regions Financial Corporation, Dr. Mary Jo Ghory, and Community Foundation of Northeast Alabama.
