Description:
Discover the fundamentals of figure sculpture in this hands-on class with Cindy Free designed for adult beginners and intermediate artists. Working with Plastiline clay and using a life-size 3D model for reference, you’ll sculpt a 1/4 scale human figure from start to finish. Learn how to build your own armature and stand, study body proportions, and apply basic anatomy as you sculpt each section of the figure. You’ll also explore how gesture and balance can bring your work to life. With both group instruction and personalized feedback, this workshop offers a supportive space to grow your skills. All materials are included. Just bring your interest in the human form and a willingness to learn through doing.

Cindy Free brings vibrant energy and infectious enthusiasm for sculpting into the classroom. As a bronze figurative artist, she focuses on dancers and other graceful creatures. With 29 years of experience directing the Birmingham Ballet and a rich background in ballet, she has an intuitive understanding of the human figure in motion. Her journey into sculpting began with creating sand sculptures during beach vacations, eventually evolving into a passion for bronze to craft lasting works of beauty. Additionally, she creates limited edition and commissioned pieces, and her work is represented by the Beverly McNeil Gallery in Birmingham, Alabama.
