Alongside every great show is a great crew. This camp is designed for teens who love theatre but want to stay out of the spotlight...or maybe learn how to operate it! Guided by some of the region’s best technical theatre professionals, campers will learn the arts of lighting, sound, and stagecraft — supporting the Intermediate Musical Theatre Camp’s production of Disney’s Newsies Jr. from behind the curtain. There’s no need for prior theatre crew experience, just a collaborative spirit and eagerness to learn how Theatre is made.

ARTPLAY POLICIES and PROCEDURES

All ArtPlay students, teaching artists and staff are to behave in a respectful manner. If a student is having behavioral issues that disrupt the harmony of a class/camp/workshop, efforts will be made to tend to the problem internally by speaking with the student.

If a student’s behavioral problem continues with no success in rectifying the behavior, a parent/guardian will be notified and will be required to pick-up the student. No refunds will be given. If the student is an adult, the student will be asked to leave the premises. No refunds will be given. If a student becomes ill during a class/camp/workshop, a parent/guardian will be contacted to pick-up their student if needed.

ArtPlay encourages students to bring only items that are necessary for their class/camp/workshop. We discourage students from bringing electronic devices that might disrupt their education. ArtPlay is not responsible for any lost, stolen or misplaced items.

PICK-UP / DROP-OFF

Parents of pre-k through middle school aged students must pick up students immediately after class is dismissed. Parents arriving 10 minutes after class dismissal will be charged $15 dollars. A charge of $15 will be applied for each additional 10 minutes following. Late fees must be paid within two weeks of accrual or student will not be allowed to return to class until a $0 account balance has been restored.

As a courtesy, please call ArtPlay at (205) 975-4769 if a student is being picked up early, or being dropped off late. ArtPlay staff must also be notified if someone other than the guardian on file is picking up a student.

VISITATION

ArtPlay does provide pre-care/aftercare for many summer camps and some classes and workshops. Fees vary.

Visitation during ArtPlay classes/camps/workshops may disrupt your student’s creative process. We encourage parents or visitors to wait in a designated waiting area until your student’s lesson is finished.

Parents with children 5 years-old and under are expected to remain on site during classes or workshops.

ARTPLAY CANCELLATION

In the event of inclement weather, classes/camps/workshops may be cancelled and ArtPlay will make their best effort to reschedule. All ArtPlay classes/camps/workshops are subject to cancellation due to low enrollment.

Cancellations will be communicated in the following ways:
