NPR and WBHM PRESENT Code Switch LIVE from Birmingham
Call Box Office

WBHM proudly presents NPR’s podcast Code Switch, featuring a conversation on race and culture taped live in Birmingham, a city that works daily to come to terms with its past and build a better future. This special evening will feature Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin, poet Ashley M. Jones, and WBHM News Director Gigi Douban.

Race is the subtext to so much of the American story – Birmingham’s story in particular – and Code Switch is here to bring that subtext to the forefront of our conversations. Sometimes, they make you laugh. Other times, you'll get uncomfortable. But you’ll always find unflinching honesty and empathy.

Code Switch is a team of NPR journalists who are fascinated by the overlapping themes of race, ethnicity and culture, and how they play out in our lives and communities. Their work appears in a weekly podcast, on-air, online, and across NPR's shows and digital outlets. Named after the many ways people shift their expressions of race and culture in daily life, Code Switch aims to deepen the coverage of these topics and capture the issues that define an increasingly diverse America.
